RESOLVED:

That the response be endorsed subject to the Monitoring Officer being requested to amend the terms of paragraph 2.4.5. (Relations with Members, the public and other employees) by the substitution of the word “nice” by a more appropriate word and the inclusion of the word “empathy” in relation to employees’ dealings with Members and others.

HRA.482The Panel considered a report by the Monitoring Officer setting out the Authority’s response to the consultation by the Government on the Codes of Conduct for Members and Officers.

The response had been considered and adopted by the Standards Committee at its meeting held on 17 November 2008 and referred to this Panel for comment insofar as the proposals affect the terms of contracts of employment of the Council’s workforce.
