HRA.312
Guy Berry presented the Panel with the Draft Flexible Retirement Policy. It was explained that the Policy had been consulted on by a number of different groups including the Corporate Joint Consultative Committee.
Flexible retirement would give members of the Local Government Pension Scheme the option to start receiving all or some of their pension benefits from an earlier age whilst stepping down into a less demanding and lower paid role or reducing their working hours.
Applications for flexible retirement would only be considered if they are in the interest of efficiency of the service. Employees who retire on flexible retirement would not qualify for a redundancy payment.
It was also explained that an application for flexible retirement would only be considered if the amount of money the employee would receive per month (salary + pension) was less than the employee was receiving prior to the flexible retirement commencing.
