45 | PC Peter Eccleston Greater Manchester Police, attended the meeting to provide an update on Police issues in Bury West.
PC Peter Eccleston reported that there had been an increase in the number of reported burglaries in the Elton area. The majority of burglaries had been from sheds/garages and outhouses. PC Peter Eccleston reported that the offenders would use the Kirklees trial as an access point/means of escape. The Police are considering a number of options to deter burglars from using the trail. Councillor Nuttall thanked PC Peter Eccleston for his officers assistance in relation to anti social behaviour on Dow Lane and Ainsworth Road.
PC Peter Eccleston reported that there continues to be a problem with off road biking in various locations across Bury West and some bikes have been seized. PC Peter Eccleston has approached the off road bike unit to assist.
In response to a question from a member of the public, PC Peter Eccleston reported that he would send a patrol car to Elton Vale Road to investigate anti social behaviour.
The Township Co-ordinator reported that a Safe for Summer event will commence on Friday 7th June 2013 and every subsequent Friday, throughout the summer. The event will begin at 6pm and will be held in Whitehead Park, Bury.
Members discussed parking in and around Primary Schools within the Bury west area. PC Peter Eccleston reported that the police would introduce a new scheme commencing in September to encourage safer parking in and around local schools. Green, Amber and Red banners would be displayed at various times around the school.

49 | Christine Maksymowski, Township Co-ordinator, gave a presentation providing an overview of the Bury West Township Forum Performance Report. An accompanying report had been submitted to the Township Forum providing an evaluation of the forums performance, which included information relating to:
Approx 10 young people from Bury West have been supported into employment in partnership with Backing Young Bury. January 2013 ROC youth club re-opened Township Co-ordinator sits on the Advisory Groups for Daisyfields and Woodbank with Elton Childrens Centres Weekly fruit and vegetable scheme set up at Daisyfields and Woodbank with Elton Childrens Centre Community Learning Partnership has been set up with Bury Adult Learning to develop a range of learning opportunities across the borough. Extra 98 bus put on route to alleviate timing issues from November 2012 A representative from the Woodbank Childrens centre reported that as a result of the obesity initiative, the rates of childhood obesity within the Woodbank area had dropped considerably.
During discussions that followed, Members of the Forum and members of the public reported that they would like the following issues to be included in the re-freshed Bury West Area plan: 1.Continued support of 'Backing Young Bury' Scheme 2.Continuation of the Highways sub-group 3.Parking around Bury West Primary School 4.Community learning partnership and volunteers Teenage conception rate.

50 | A member of the public reported that the Council had resolved not to cut the grass on the fields adjacent to his property on Elton Vale Road. The grass is now overgrown and concerns were expressed in relation to dog fouling on the land. |
51 | The Township Forum considered a verbal update from Councillor R. Walker. The update contained the following information: There are currently no plans to re-tarmac cobbled streets within the Bury West area There is no specific budget available for resurfacing. Three 20mph schemes in Bury West have been identified for introduction in 2013/14. These schemes are the Elton Triangle, Rudgwick Drive and Ashington Drive areas.
Councillor Walker reported that it may be useful to hold public meetings to discuss the introduction of 20mph speed limits on Watling street and Hunstanton Drive.
