C.132 HONORARY FREEDOM OF THE BOROUGH FOR MR DEREK BODEN OBE, MRS JILL NEVILLE AND MR HARRY REED
It was moved by Councillor Connolly and seconded by Councillor Fitzgerald and:-

RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY

That the Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972, admit Mr Derek Boden OBE, to the Honorary Freedom of the Metropolitan Borough in recognition of his work and outstanding service to the communities of the Bury Metropolitan Borough of which the residents and Council are extremely grateful.

In recognition of the eminent, valuable and devoted services which he has rendered to the former Whitefield Urban District Council between 1972 and 1974 and the Metropolitan Borough of Bury Council between 1974 and 2012, as a Member of those Councils during which periods he held the High Office of Leader of The Metropolitan Borough of Bury Council from 1997 to 2001 and also in recognition of his significant contribution in championing environmental issues regionally and nationally.

It was moved by Councillor Walker and seconded by Councillor Isherwood and:-

RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY

That the Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972, admit Mrs Jill Neville, to the Honorary Freedom of the Metropolitan Borough in recognition of her work and outstanding service to the
communities of the Bury Metropolitan Borough of which the residents and Council are extremely grateful.

In recognition of her unique and enduring contribution to the development of Bury Football Club as a community club; women’s sport and more generally sport in the Community.

It was moved by Councillor John Smith and seconded by Councillor Cassidy and:-

RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY

That the Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972, admit Mr Harry Reed, to the Honorary Freedom of the Metropolitan Borough in recognition of his work and outstanding service to the communities of the Bury Metropolitan Borough of which the residents and Council are extremely grateful.

In recognition of his long and outstanding contribution to community work and in particular for his persistently valuable commitment and dedication to the well being of residents and the regeneration of East Bury.

The worshipful the Mayor asked each to sign the Freeman’s Declaration and presented each with an illuminated Scroll and Medallion.



The meeting started at 4.00 pm and ended at 5.05 pm
