C.147 FIFTEENTH INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SPORTS FESTIVAL - COMMEMORATIVE DVD

RESOLVED:

That the thanks and appreciation of this Council be given to the Council’s staff for organising the games so successfully on the Council’s behalf and the thanks of the Council be extended to the youth of Bury who represented the Borough with great distinction in the Games.

It was moved by Councillor T Holt and seconded by Councillor D M Higgin and:-

RESOLVED:

That the recommendations contained in Minute S.1105 concerning the Code of Conduct for Non-Voting Representatives, be approved and adopted.

(b) Minute EX.23 of the Executive held on 24 May 2006 - Bury Youth Justice Plan 2006/2007

It was moved by Councillor W A Campbell and seconded by Councillor M Connolly and:-

C.147The commemorative DVD of the Fifteenth International Youth Sports Festival, which had been held in Bury, starting on Thursday, 25 May for the opening ceremony and closing on Sunday, 28 May 2006, was shown to members present.

It was moved by Councillor T P Chamberlain and seconded by Councillor D B Bigg and:-
C.149The Worshipful the Mayor referred to the occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th Birthday on 21 April 2006 and to the fact that the former Councillor Steven Treadgold as Mayor, had extended the Borough’s Loyal Greetings to Her Majesty on this special occasion. The Mayor reported that a reply to the greeting had now been received from Buckingham Palace conveying the Queen’s thanks and appreciation for the Council’s message of good wishes.

The Mayor reported his delight that two residents of the Metropolitan Borough have been included in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours List. The Reverend Elizabeth Binns, Assistant Principal Librarian for Social Inclusion and Mrs Jean Spencer of the Bury Pipeline Talking Newspaper had been appointed Members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The Mayor offered the Reverend Binns and Mrs Spencer his sincere congratulations on behalf the Council.

The Mayor reported the recent death of Mr Harold Waite, the widower of former Councillor and Mayor of the Borough, Evelyn May Waite, on Friday, 26 June. Members stood in silence for one minute as a mark of respect and in memory of Mr Waite.
