Preamble

Preamble
ItemPreamble
S.1262Councillor T D Pickstone declared a personal interest in agenda item 5, “Follow- up to better services for vulnerable older people - mental health”, in so far as it related to the Pennine Trust.
S.1263There were no members of the public present to ask questions under this item.
S.1265A report of the Audit Commission was submitted which set out the background to a review of mental health services for older people and set out the main conclusions to the follow-up work which had been based around the original action plan which covered the Bury Metropolitan Borough area. The follow-up work comprised a position statement against the action plan and any recommendations for future improvement where progress was limited.

In the period since the original review, there had been considerable organisational change in health. The multi-agency Elderly Mentally Ill (EMI) Strategy Group had met regularly during the period of change and this had ensured that some significant progress had been made usually as part of wider initiatives. The report set out notable achievements and also set out areas where there had been only limited progress and there was cause for concern.
S.1266The Audit Commission submitted a progress statement on the 2003/2004 Audit and Inspection Programme.

It was reported that some of the work within the programme was on hold pending the outcome of the recent CPA Assessment.
