Bury Council, along with 334 of the 338 of
other Local Authorities is currently a member of the Local
Government Association (LGA). The LGA provides a number of benefits
including
? the opportunity to influence local government work through
membership of boards, commissions, advisory groups or the
Councillors' Forum ? access to support and advice for councillors
through political group offices ? access to up-to-the-minute news,
briefings and daily news headlines on the LGA website through a
suite of subscription e-bulletins ? support on national media
relations including in times of crisis ? access to a wide range of
free or discounted events ? access to legal advice, opinions and
guidance on complex issues ? opportunities to join special interest
groups, including the District Councils' Network, County Councils'
Network or the Special Interest Group of Municipal Authorities ?
use of facilities at 18 Smith Square, including free meeting room
hire ? invitations to Royal Garden Parties
The total cost of membership is £34,266.96 which includes a
direct debit and loyalty discount totalling £10,863,14.
Budget is available through the Council’s corporate
management subscriptions budget.
It is proposed that the Council continues to be a member of the
Local Government Association.
