This report comes within the remit of Support for Adult Social Care Providers Urgent Decision Form approved on the 8th April 2020. The report sought approval to provide an offer of support during the Covid-19 Pandemic which would ensure provider sustainability and continue to support our most vulnerable adults. The approval of the report allows for the block booking of 11 beds at Gorsey Clough, paying the full cost of the beds as they are vacant at the moment and using the beds for some of our most vulnerable customers, those who are Covid -19 positive and have a cognitive impairment. This will be funded through the Covid-19 NHS award.
The provision of 11 isolation beds for people with a cognitive impairment, or who require nursing care because they have complex needs with an eye to a step up in provision for end of life/ palliative care in some of these beds if the demand does rise to a significant peak which would invoke stage 3 of the end of life care model. We would monitor the situation closely and if end of life care is required we would support the home to access equipment and supplies needed to do this.
