YOUTH ISSUES UPDATE

Minutes:

·         It was reported that Adele had given birth to a baby boy.

 

·         It was explained that there was some detached work being out in parks in Radcliffe.

 

·         A member of the Youth Cabinet asked if the Council could help with maintenance required at the Radcliffe Skate Park.

 

Councillor Walker stated that he would follow up the issues relating to Radcliffe.

 

·         It was asked whether transport could be discussed at a future meeting.

 

·         Heather explained that the MYP elections would be taking place next February. There were two areas that potential candidates should think about. Local issues and working with the Youth Cabinet and National issues working with Youth Parliament.

 

Anybody interested in standing for the election would need to attend at least 2 Youth Cabinet meetings before the election.

 

·         It was reported that the Walking Rainbow was being held on Sunday 10 July from 12.30pm. The annual event had been establishedto celebrate diversity in the borough and to say ‘no’ to bullying, homophobia, sexism, racism, ableism and ageism. The walk would be setting off from the Town Hall, march through the town centre and end up at Kay Gardens where there would be activities and stalls.

Minutes:

It was reported that Connexions were in the process of recruiting a new personal advisor. There would be a young persons’ panel who would take part in the interview process. If any of the young people wanted to sit on the panel they were asked to contact Heather.

 

It was also reported that a new Assistant Director (Learning and Culture) had been appointed and would be taking up her position in June.

 

Heather explained that this would be Adele’s last meeting of Youth Cabinet before she went on Maternity Leave.

 

It was agreed:

 

1. That the information be noted.

 

2. That the Youth Cabinet wish Adele well for her forthcoming maternity leave.
