THE BURY DIRECTORY

Heather will report at the meeting.

Minutes:

Katie Wood attended the meeting to explain about the new Bury Directory. The directory is a website that has been developed to bring together information relating to all Council services as well as that of partner organisations, charities and the private sector.

The website is described as the one stop information point for advice, support, activities, services and more.

·         The directory is split into two sections, Children and Families and Adults.

·         It brings together a number of smaller directories so that as much information as possible is available in the one place.

·         There is an option to look up services within different categories such as leisure, health, employment and education including Council services, NHS services and those provided by the voluntary sector. The system also has an option to receive links to transport information and provide directions to the services within the directory.

·         Services can be rated anonymously and feedback given relating to the services. This facility was described as being similar to a trip advisor type review.

·         Users can save favourites which are then quickly accessible without having to carry out another search.

·         It is possible to forward a link from the website via e-mails and text messaging.

·         The language can be changed to make the information accessible.

·         The website is accessible on mobile phones and tablets as well as PCs

Those present were asked for their feedback and to promote the directory to their friends.

It was agreed:

That Katie be thanked for her presentation.
