UKYP Election

An update will be given at the Meeting

Minutes:

It was reported that the elections for the Bury Member of Youth Parliament would be taking place on Thursday 31 January 2019.

 

There were 8 candidates to choose from. Voting would be taking place in schools and colleges and at Connexions which was based at 3 Knowsley Place.

Takeover Day

An update will be given at the Meeting

Minutes:

It was reported that national takeover day had been held on 23 November. Bury Council were arranging their own takeover day and it was hoped that it would be along the same lines as the one held last year where young people shadowed a number of different people.

 

If anybody had any suggestions or requests they were asked to contact Heather or Adele.

Make your Mark

An update will be given at the Meeting.

Minutes:

Numair reported that he had recently attended the meeting of Youth Parliament which had been held in the House of Commons on 9 November.

 

The campaigns that had been voted on in the Make your Mark ballot to debate at the meeting were reported as being:

Numair reported that Jeremy Corbyn had attended the debate.

Circles of Influence

An update will be given at the Meeting

Minutes:

Heather handed out information regarding the issues that had been raised at the Circles of Influence event.

 

Key findings were set out and those present were asked to come up with ideas on how they would support young people to deal with the issues.

The Big Debate

Those present will identify a topic and a debate will be held

Minutes:

The Youth Cabinet split into teams to debate the following issue:

 

Which are best, Real or artificial Christmas trees.

 

It was agreed:

 

That artificial Christmas trees were better that real ones.

YC.8

Any other business

Minutes:

Barkley reported that there was due to be meeting of a new youth group in Radcliffe. The Corrie Gardens Youth group were due to meet on 26 January at the Rock Centre on Westminster Avenue. Barkley explained that it would be an opportunity for local young people to get together and have their say about their area.

 

It was reported that this would be last meeting that Beth would be attending.

 

All those present thanked Beth for her hard work and wished her well for the future.
