Being a member of the NLGN provides access to

Participate in Innovation Exchanges – these day long sessions bring together senior officers in an intensive workshop to share ideas, lessons learned and best practice on core challenges for councils. 2. Attend NLGN’s high profile networking events including our Annual Reception at Parliament and two complimentary tickets to our Annual Conference. 3. Be part of our wider programme of events including practical workshops and policy roundtables. 4. Receive case studies and begins on how councils have led innovation in practice, 5. Arrange facilitated sessions from NLGN’s senior team with staff or stakeholders 6. Connect with NLGN’s research team, using their expertise to gain access to data and findings 7. Speak at NLGN events and write articles on the NLGN blog –to raise the profile of Bury Council

The total cost of membership is £12,800. Budget is available through the Council’s corporate management subscriptions budget.

It is proposed that the Council continues to be a member of the New Local Government Network, reviewing this in 2021.

Operational Decision 090 dated 24th March 2020 approved reduced service provision within Pest Control to Emergency/Essential works only, in response the government guidance on the Covid-19 national lockdown.

From the date of this operation decision the Pest Control team will resume all routine works including sewer baiting, insect treatments, dog fouling enforcement/signage, and new and existing routine private contract works.

A Covid 19 specific risk assessment and suitable control measures are in place for this type of work.

This work will not have any impact on other areas of priority service delivery.

Following an evaluation of the options in relation to the replacement and procurement of a number of new Refuse Collection Vehicles to replace existing unfit for purpose vehicles within the Council’s fleet, it is recommended that the new vehicles will be procured using an OJEU compliant framework the TPPL (The Procurement Partnership Ltd).

It is also recommended that following an evaluation of the framework that the contract for the 12 replacement vehicles is awarded to:

as it has been demonstrated that they offer the Council the best value option.
